Now pressing that button fixes the title screen and the game should work as intended. Fixed that by mapping alt+enter to one of the 4 back buttons (alt as a primary command and enter as a sub command on the same button). That makes the game launch, but the title screen is way zoomed in and upside down. Under launch options in properties I added this command, -RunningFromAlice2. Took the Alice1 folder out of my Origin/EA version of the game (get it however you see fit, this is how I sourced the folder) and copied it to the Steam Deck (I just copied it to the desktop), then added it as a non Steam game. The upside down title screen likely isn't an issue if you're running it from windows. You don't even have to mod Madness returns to get the 1st Alice game running, you can get it running as a stand alone game on my Steam Deck by using this method. To get both you'd have to buy a "complete collection" which is not available anywhere anymore afaik, and even back when it was available it was only for sale in the US Then ♥♥♥♥♥♥ around the files for no good reason Pretty much this, though note that the base Origin version is the same you find on Steam, so that too doesn't include the first game. In which point, you'd just play the origin version, then the steam version, And you can only play it if you own the Origin version which you can move into the steam version. Though lauded for its stunning visuals, Madness Returns didn't sell enough to compel EA into making a third installment, which means it's a full decade later and we still can't play part three yet, even though we reckon Madness Returns is one of the most overlooked games of the PS3 / Xbox 360 generationĭid you know that the cult classic horror game Alice is getting an unexpected TV adaptation?
